According to #Metekel Zone communication bureau, during today’s discussion with the residents of the zone, Prime Minister Abiy has outlined directions on ways to sustainably resolve the security crisis in the area. The direction put forth by the Prime Minister include establishing a peace and reconciliation group led by local elders under the auspices of the Ministry of Peace. The group will be tasked to create avenues for reconciliation, help community members who are affected by violence and attacks, nurture local values, and support the works of the federal army who are tasked to safeguard the peace and security in the area by ensuring the rule of law.
Prime Minister Abiy also said that discussions between the #Amhara and the #BenishangulGumuz regional states authorities will be facilitated through the Prosperity Party (PP) aimed at resolving regional tensions and ensuring development works to continue.
